All scans for MARSO need to be shot One Light At a Time (OLAT).

Total images = number of cameras in scene X number of Lights per camera

For systems with multiple lights, do not capture an extra image with all lights on for photogrammetry. MARSO automatically creates such images during data processing. Any additional images in the dataset will result in an error.

Naming

For the different camera & light options listed in the drop-down boxes, ensure that the names of files are alphanumeric.

Good Examples

Cam_000, Cam_001, Cam_002, Cam_003, Cam_004…
Names are in order

DSC_1234, DSC_1235, DSC_1236, DSC_1237, …
Names don’t start at 0 but are in order

Bad Examples

Cam_000, Image_001, DSC_002, Cam_003, . .
Numbers are ordered, but names are not

Sequencing

 Single Camera - Single Light

You’re only required to take one image per position.

  1. Position 1 > cam_1 + light_1

  2. Position 2 > cam_1 + light_1

  3. Position 3 > cam_1 + light_1

  4. Position 4 > cam_1 + light_1

  5. Position 5 > cam_1 + light_1

  6. Position 6 > cam_1 + light_1

 Single Camera - Multiple Lights

Take an image per light by only having one light turned on at any given time. A rig with two lights will therefore take twice as many images for all camera views.

  1. Position 1 > cam_1 + light_1

  2. Position 1 > cam_1 + light_2

  3. Position 2 > cam_1 + light_1

  4. Position 2 > cam_1 + light_2

  5. Position 3 > cam_1 + light_1

  6. Position 3 > cam_1 + light_2

 Multiple Camera - Single Light

Take an image with each camera independently, to ensure there is no spill from each camera’s respective light onto images taken by other cameras within the system.

  1. Position 1 > cam_1 + light_1

  2. Position 1 > cam_2 + light_1

  3. Position 1 > cam_3 + light_1

  4. Position 2 > cam_1 + light_1

  5. Position 2 > cam_2 + light_1

  6. Position 2 > cam_3 + light_1

 Multiple Cameras - Multiple Lights

For each camera; take an image with each light attached to the camera in question, before moving onto the next camera & light pairing.

  1. Position 1 > cam_1 + light_1

  2. Position 1 > cam_1 + light_2

  3. Position 1 > cam_2 + light_1

  4. Position 1 > cam_2 + light_2

  5. Position 2 > cam_1 + light_1

  6. Position 2 > cam_1 + light_2

  7. Position 2 > cam_2 + light_1

  8. Position 2 > cam_2 + light_2
